Description
Pathophysiology, Prevention, Diagnosis and Management of the Disorders of Pranavaha Srotas (Respiratory System) in Children. The respiratory disorders have become very common given the scenario of industrialization, economic growth and resultant pollution in urban India. It is estimated that most of the disease burden in rural India, too, is because of respiratory disorders such as bronchial asthma, bronchitis, tuberculosis and pneumonia. These diseases are very common disorders among those affecting the children in India. Ayurveda, the native healthcare system of India has described the physiology, pathology, clinical diagnosis and management of most of these respiratory diseases in its classical literature. Ayurveda advocates the use of repeated Panchakarma procedures and other seasonal and daily regimens to prevent some of these disorders. Further, there is a sizable corpus of description
available about several pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions in the management of respiratory diseases. The literature related to paediatric respiratory conditions too is rich in experience. This book is an effort to incorporate all these aspects in the form of different chapters authored by experts in their respective fields. The topics covered in this title cover the various areas such as anatomy, physiology, diagnosis, prevention and management related to respiratory disorders.
